Blockchain technology can enhance the ability of governments, organisations and communities to respond to and recover from crises. By providing a secure and transparent platform for coordination and information sharing, blockchains can improve the efficiency and effectiveness of crisis response efforts. The technology can be used to improve the distribution of disaster relief and humanitarian aid by ensuring that funds and resources are allocated transparently and efficiently. For example, blockchain can be used to create digital vouchers or tokens that can be distributed to affected individuals and redeemed for essential goods and services; this ensures that aid reaches those who need it most and reduces the risk of fraud and mismanagement.
