Governance is a term which refers to how an organisation makes decisions, such as who is in charge of what, how key decisions are made and carried out, and if control and influence is given to a few people such as the board directors of a company or shared among everyone (similar to a co-operative). All of these questions have different effects on an organisation's operational system, whether on a large scale -such as mergers and acquisitions - or on a smaller scale, such as how much is to be spent on marketing or who is responsible for a certain task. Most of the time, what makes an organisation function efficiently is a good governance model. Logically, there is no ‘one-size-fits-all’ solution here.
