Blockchain technology and the future of the stock market
Even though Satoshi Nakamoto's "Bitcoin: A Peer-to-Peer Electronic Cash System" whitepaper was published in October 2008 and really drew attention to blockchain technology, blockchain is still a technology which many industries are finding out how it can be deployed to solve everyday problems. There has been considerable interest in using blockchain technology in finance and we are now beginning to see the technology being used to help create stock exchanges to trade blockchain-powered digital assets, as well as being used to reduce counterparty risk and generally strengthen settlement and compliance controls. There are a variety of ways blockchain technology can be used in relation to stock markets, and one of these is to reduce the time it takes for trades to be settled and paid for.
