Blockchains being deployed for international aid and the UN
The United Nations (UN) was created in 1945 to maintain international peace and security and to achieve co-operation among nations in response to the destruction caused by World War I and World War II. At the time it did not have a charity program until the United Nations High Commissioner for Refugees (UNHCR) was established in 1950 and was eventually followed on by the United Nations Foundation (UNF) in 1998. The UN, UNHCR and UNF’s inception, however, has not been the antidote to war (natural and human disasters have equally ravished humanity) although the UN has since stepped in to curtail the effects of worldwide tragedies, usually through peacekeeping missions and international assistance. There are also the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organization (UNESCO) and the United Nations Development Programme (UNDP) together with other United Nations and private agencies actively partnering with willing international donors to aid their targets.
