Carbon credits, representing verifiable reductions or removals of greenhouse gas emissions, have become critical instruments for corporations and nations striving to meet net-zero targets. However, the current carbon credit ecosystem is fraught with inefficiencies including a lack of transparency, fragmented verification systems, double-counting concerns and opaque pricing mechanisms. As a result, and despite the burgeoning demand, the carbon credit market has struggled to scale with the credibility and liquidity necessary to drive meaningful climate action.
