Crypto charity tokens: what exactly are they?
Cryptocurrency philanthropy provides financial aid to non-profit organisations instead of the traditional currencies such as cash, shares or other assets. Giving to charitable organisations using cryptocurrencies is expanding quickly, but could such donations further impact the wider charity sector? In 2018, The Giving Block was established to help make crypto donations simpler and it has since grown from working with a few hundred charities to over 1,000 and has helped raise more than $100 million in crypto contributions. Chainanalysis estimates that over $5.9million has already been given in crypto donations to help victims of the Turkish and Syrian recent earthquake.
