As much as there is always media coverage about new worlds and industries being changed by the technology, Web3 is also fraught with bad press. In 2021, over $3.2billion was lost to hacks, and 2022 witnessed $3.7billion crypto in losses; furthermore, by the end of the first half of 2023, $449.1million had been stolen. And, although some of the stolen funds often get returned by hackers, prevention is still better than cure. Over 46,000 people lost over $1billion in crypto to scams between the start of 2021 and the first quarter of 2022 and, in May 2023, crypto investors lost $54M to rug pulls and scams.
