Metaverse and healthcare
The merging together of the digital and real-world gives rise to an enhanced virtual environment - i.e. what is now referred to as to the metaverse. Users meet electronically and become immersed in virtual activities that may lead to real-life events and engagements with one another - all within this constructed universe. Whilst the healthcare sector is known for being slow to embrace change, the metaverse offers a real opportunity to help this industry significantly. For example, certain virtual healthcare services could be chosen based on a person's digital identity and the digital patient/avatar could meet the virtual doctor who would be visible in three dimensions (3D) and who would have access to the patient’s full information. Examining the patient could be changed to “looking at the data”, and this 1:1 "photocopy" would have all health data from many different sources such as electronic medical records, measurements from wearable devices, administrative data, consumer behaviour…
